Futurism: Robots, diamonds

Robots

Boston Dynamics integrated wheels into their creepy robots…

…plus UPS is trying to solve last mile delivery with drones.

Since rolling is more efficient than flying in a lot of cases (city centers, not swamps), will we get fleets of robotic bike messengers on Tron lightcycles?

Diamonds

Synthetic diamonds get cheaper over time
…diamond is really thermally conductive.

Could diamond heat sinks (no, cases) give us fanless, ultra quiet desktops?

It gets even better when you add buzzwords like “graphene” and “nanotubes.”

Note on stuff with high thermal conductivity:
  • Aluminum in the 200s
  • Silver is in the 400s
  • Diamond is 900-1000
  • Graphene is 5300
